VIDEO: Skinner Sights - Even Better Optics for 2026
Mark and Scott sat down with Andy Larsson of Skinner Sights at this year's NRA show to talk about his great optics lineup and take a look at the all new 1-10 power scope.
As many of you know, Big Woods Bucks (BWB) has a long standing partnership with Skinner Sights and a personal friendship and kinship with their CEO, Andy Larsson. This collaborative relationship has resulted in near perfect sighting options for those outdoorsmen and women we serve in both the Western US and those of us East of the Mississippi as well.
The Ignored Demographic
In the process of interacting with the public for so many years, BWB has learned what you want to use in the field, and we have learned that shortcomings exist within the outdoor industry’s attempts at manufacturing this equipment. We have learned where we can improve on those products and services offered. Our Team is always testing and retesting anything that we eventually bring to market.
Big woods hunting is tough, and tough to film! BWB Co-Founder Chris Dalti believes this led the outdoor industry to ignore the products we need for our uniquely challenging style of hunting.
Interestingly, more than 20 years ago, when Chris Dalti and Hal Blood started BWB, Chris was way ahead of the curve in recognizing that the Northeast, Upper Midwest, and Southern Canadian Provinces were underrepresented in the outdoor world, and that he and Hal might be able to provide both the education and the products to help people become the best hunters they could be. The reason these geographic regions were being ignored by the hunting industry and its manufacturers was simple; these hunts are tough to film. Therefore, the products, the rifles, the preferred ammunition, and hunting clothing used in these remote regions did not receive the airtime nor the R&D they deserved during the outdoor TV revolution that other regions were benefitting from. Without that airtime, the advertising dollars and R&D never came.
But that all changed when Hal and Chris recognized this industrial stagnation and began building what was needed to track and still-hunt in the Northern wet boreal forests. The launch of their first wool jackets, pants and packs began the Big Woods Bucks woodsman revolution.
Enter Andy Larsson…

Over a decade ago, and in the midst of BWB’s initial development as an outdoor influencer and manufacturer, I began my mission to research and build more effective tracking and still-hunting rifles. These are now described in public forums as a new general class of rifle, aptly called the “tracking rifle”. In the pursuit of the perfect tracking gun, I started installing Skinner’s various peep sight options. Within a few years of this R&D process, the partnership was founded between Skinner and BWB and the BWB Tracker Series Peep Sight was co-developed and brought to market. Many of you wanted a robust, clean and classic looking, rear sight option for your carbines. By providing what you were asking for, the once ignored demographic responded and the updated BWB Skinner sights flew off the shelves and continue to do so to this day.
Skinner Optics
Not every tracker or still-hunter wants an open sight or a peep sight. Many use Red Dot Sights and Scopes - usually an LPVO (low power variable optic). As BWB’s status grew online as the experts in mobile hunting, the once singular tracking demographic was now expanding into the sitters, the stand-hunters, and those with other more stationary or ambush style hunting tactics. These folks demanded a scope line from Skinner, and Andy responded with a stellar, affordable line that fights way above its weight class. This video covers the entire optics product line from the amazing and robust RDO (Red Dot Optic) all the way to the new Skinner 1-10 power scope.

One thing to note: do not be fooled by the affordable price. Truth be told, Andy simply made the decision to build the highest quality optics with the lowest margins possible. His goal was to cater to the common man who wants quality without breaking the bank - something most of the scope manufacturing world has forgotten. Of course we here at BWB agree with this ethos wholeheartedly, and so when BWB offered the Skinner optics line on our website, we did not increase the price either. Know that these optics will serve you well whether you are a hardcore boreal tracker, an Adirondack still-hunter, or a farmland stand-hunter; Skinner now has a fantastic option specifically for you. To learn more about the options, watch our sit-down with Andy at this year's NRA show where we review all three scopes and the RDO.
You will find Skinner Red Dot Optics, Skinner Scopes and mounting options right on our Big Woods Bucks website.
In addition to Skinner Sights' classic peep sights they also make compact, high quality scopes in 1-4, 1-6 and now 1-10 variants, as well as their fantastic Red Dot Optic.
