The Big Woods Bucks Limited Edition Browning AB3 Tracker
All the features you'd want in a bolt action tracking rifle!

In 2022, I conducted a poll asking our followers what features they would like in a bolt action that would be built specifically for tracking and still-hunting (which as we all know will also double as a great blind or stand rifle as well!). We also polled what price range would be acceptable for a collectible BWB limited run model in this form for the average hunter in New England and surrounding states.
Here is what polled best for a bolt-action tracking rifle:
- Limited run and collectible with BWB badging
- 19 inch or less length, carbine barrel
- Oversize bolt handle and knob
- Less than 7lb weight
- Tang safety
- High grade walnut (although they would be willing to forgo this option if too costly)
- Detachable magazine
- Robust fiber optic front sight
- Skinner BWB Tracker peep (ghost ring) sight
- A "rounded off" recoil pad
- Shorter length of pull
- Great trigger around 4lbs
- 60-degree bolt throw or straight pull bolt. 90-degree bolt throw polled low
- Preferred price range of $900 to $1700 (anything over $1700 was felt to be too expensive)
- The following calibers in order of what polled as the 4 most popular, most to least:
- 308 Win (people wanted a short action)
- 30-06
- 270 Win
- 358 Win (this one surprised us that it made the popular ranking)
So here is how we did implementing the venerable Browning ABolt action as the foundation:
- BWB's "Rack and Track" logo laser engraved in the receiver (100 made, limited run - collectible)
- 18 1/2 inch carbine barrel
- Oversize bolt handle and knob
- 6.4 lbs
- Tang safety
- AA grade walnut
- 4 round detachable magazine
- LPA fully adjustable fiber optic front sight
- Skinner BWB Tracker peep (ghost ring) sight
- A rounded off "Inflex" recoil pad
- 13 5/8 inch length of pull
- Fantastic trigger at 4.5-5.5lbs with zero creep or overtravel
- 60 degree bolt throw
- $1,299
- Chambered in 308 Win.
As with all of our previous Big Woods Bucks Limited Runs, these too will be amazing tracking rifles for those who prefer the bolt action rifle, while also becoming a fantastic monetary investment.
