Hey folks, I know some of you were looking for a little video footage from our scouting trip on Monday. Well, Rob & I saw dozens of gobblers, some strutting, gobbling, awesome stuff, but we failed to get any real “in the woods” action. The majority of the gobblers we could film & did actually, were beside the roads, on private land & out the window stuff. That’s not what we spend countless hours in the woods for. If it ain’t real, it ain’t real !!
We did hook up with a big old tom in a clover field. A beautiful pine shaded road went along the field & we thought it made for an awesome spot for the gobbler to come strutting down. Well, I gave him a few yelps and he gobbled, but for 10 minutes he never moved. A hen with him decided to check things out and she dragged him right towards our setup except we setup in the logging road & he wouldn't leave the field. After 35 minutes, we watched him run off. So, that’s how it goes sometimes. Damn #**%! longbeards. He will ride home in my Tahoe next week, if he tries that trick again!!
