Hey folks, sorry for the gap between turkey reports. I have moved to another house and all the duties that surround moving have cut into my turkey scouting chores. I got out this morning just as the most beautiful sunrise a turkey hunter ever saw jumped over the eastern horizon. With the sun came the thunderous chorus of gobblers, jakes & hens, as they rocked the tree-tops. Man, after that show, it's hard to think that we have to wait 7 more days before we hit the woods with shotgun in hand.
Cameraman Rob Wing and I will hit the woods on Monday morning to get a little spring training in before opening day. We're hoping to send a little footage back to the site for all to see. I hope everyone checks back next week for the last update before we hit the woods on youth day May 1st.
BWB Tip of the Week: Turkeys are very forgiving types. If you bust a bird or see birds fly off for some/any reason, don't give up. Wait about 40 minutes and make a hunt towards the gobblers. A hot tom will respond, after he's had time to settle down. I've hung a few longbeards that most hunters would give up on, using this trick. Be patient!!
